Description
Wire the mini-split. Skip the conduit.
Southwire EZ-IN™ Mini-Split Shielded Cable is a UL Listed, 600 V Type MC cable built for ductless installs — run it indoors or out, wet or dry, with no conduit and no cable tray. The foil shield keeps inverter and line noise out of your communication signal.
Conduit and cable tray cost you labor. There's a code-compliant shortcut.
The classic way to power a ductless head means pulling individual THHN through conduit, or running whip plus tray. EZ-IN puts shielded conductors inside lightweight interlocked armor, so you route it like a whip — fished, surface-run, concealed or exposed — and stay inside the NEC without the conduit.
Conduit & pull
- Bend and mount conduit, then pull individual conductors
- Cable tray or raceway to satisfy the code
- Extra fittings, extra labor hours per head
- Unshielded runs can pick up inverter and line noise
EZ-IN™ shielded MC
- Armored cable installs with no conduit or tray
- Fished, embedded, concealed or exposed — indoor or out
- Anti-short bushing not required — faster terminations
- Foil shield + drain wire guards the comm signal
Purpose-built for ductless mini-split wiring
Everything about this cable is tuned to the mini-split job — from the shield to the armor to the sunlight-resistant jacket.
No conduit needed
Type MC armored construction installs to the NEC without conduit or cable tray — fished, surface-mounted, concealed or exposed.
Shielded
Aluminum foil shield with a tinned-copper drain wire guards against electrical noise and interference from nearby cables — protecting the mini-split's communication signal.
Lightweight armor
Aluminum interlocked armor gives real mechanical protection while staying light and easy to handle and route — far less weight than steel.
Indoor or outdoor
Sunlight-resistant PVC jacket, rated for wet locations per NEC 330.10(11) and for direct burial — run it right to the outdoor condenser.
EZ-IN™ ease
No anti-short bushing required, so terminations go faster. Pair it with Southwire's mini-split fittings and tools for a clean, quick rough-in.

Specifications
Figures below are for the 14 AWG / 4-conductor shielded build (SPEC 60422). Always size and protect the circuit per the NEC and the equipment's install manual.
Ampacity per 2023 NEC Table 310.16; OCPD for 14 AWG Cu is limited to 15 A per NEC 240.4(D). See NEC 310.15 & 110.14(C). 12 AWG and 10 AWG builds also available in the EZ-IN line.
One cable, indoors and out
EZ-IN Mini-Split MC is listed for a wide range of installation conditions — including some genuinely harsh ones.
Built for tough environments. Suitable where exposed to cinder fills, strong chlorides, caustic alkalis, or vapors of chlorine or hydrochloric acid. Always confirm the application against NEC Article 330 and local code before installing.
Pick the gauge and the length
All builds are 4-conductor shielded Type MC. Choose the conductor gauge for the circuit, then the put-up for the job.
14, 12 & 10 AWG
Four-conductor shielded (black, red, white, green ground). Size to the head's circuit and overcurrent protection.
- 14 AWG — 15 A circuit (SPEC 60422)
- 12 AWG — 20 A circuit
- 10 AWG — 30 A circuit
- All shielded, 600 V, 90°C dry / 75°C wet
